Small Groups Director

I learned about Jesus from my older sister when I was 10 years old and accepted Him as my savior right away.  Our family did not attend church so my trust in Him was like the faith of a child for a long time.  When I married my husband Damian in 1983, we would read the Bible together and do devotionals, but still did not attend church.  We started attending church in 1995 because "the kids needed it", but in reality, that was the start of my true spiritual journey to know God as my father, friend and salvation.  Damian and I have 6 adult children.  The joy of our lives is our 4 beautiful grandkids, Evia, Isla, Maverick and Asher.  I am blessed to be able to care for 3 of my grandkids several days a week.

When did you first come to Grace?

We came to Grace Church in 2012 after a bad experience at a different church when I had basically decided I was not going to attend church again (I believed they were all full of hypocrites). Then I had 3 different people tell me we should go to Grace Church.  Knowing none of these people actually attended Grace, I figured it was a message from God.  We tried out Grace and the sermon spoke to me as Pastor Rick made it abundantly clear that this place was full of imperfect people, like myself, and yet everyone was loved here, because Jesus loved us and we are the body of Christ. We have been here ever since and love being at a church that loves real people and cares for them as Jesus did.

What is your favorite treat or snack?

Chocolate chip cookies, popcorn and M&M's.  Pretty much anything sweet or salty.  Food is my love language.

What is your biggest challenge?

Four of our six kids were adopted from foster care.  They came with alot of emotional baggage and have continued their struggles even as adults.  My biggest challenge is to trust God to care for them, keep them safe and guide them as they are out on their own.  My hope lies in Proverbs 22:6 "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

One thing people don't know about you?

I fell off a mechanical bull in 2011 and tore my ACL, PCL, MCL and meniscus.  I had to have surgery and 6 months of PT to get walking again.
