Starting this fall at Grace Church

Whiz Kids offers one-on-one tutoring, positive mentoring relationships, and spiritual nurturing for students below the literacy and poverty lines. If you can love a child, read, and pass a background check, you can be a tutor.

One hour of tutoring is focused on reading, math, and homework help - followed by a 30-minute Club Time. During Club Time, tutors and students come together for songs and a short message about God's love for them.

Looking for a great way to impact the next generation? Volunteer with Whiz Kids to tutor an elementary student this fall.  Sign-up today for one or more of our volunteer opportunities:  
Tutor - We need at least 15 tutors! Provide one-to-one tutoring for elementary age students (2 hour commitment, Thursdays 2:30-4:30pm).  Training and materials provided by Whiz Kids. You just need to be able to read and love a child!

Club Leader - 1-2 volunteers are needed! Lead games, songs, share a 15-minute Bible story/gospel message provided by Whiz Kids to the group of kids and tutors. (30-45 minute commitment, Thursdays approx. 2:30-4:30pm. Training and materials provided). 

Van Driver - 2-4 volunteers are needed! Using Grace vans, drivers pick the kids up from Swanson Elementary and bring them to Grace to participate in the Whiz Kids program. (Time commitment approx. 30 minutes, Thursdays 2:15-2:45pm, monthly or bi-weekly opportunities available.) Driver's License and proof of insurance required.

Female Van Chaperone - A second person is needed to ride along as extra security and accountability for kids in the van. Greeting them as they board and engagin them in conversation about their day, assuring they stay stafe in their seat so the driver can stay focused. (Time commitment approx. 30 minutes, Thursdays 2:15-2:45pm, monthly or bi-weekly opportunities available.)
